The RAV4 Prime is more powerful and more fuel efficient than its past and current RAV4 hybrid iterations. The powertrain is much different than the rest of the RAV4 fleet, however the rest is relatively the same and gives buyers the same premium features that they expect for the compact SUV.
The RAV4 Prime is the plug-in hybrid variant available for the line, not only does it offer electric only driving capability, but it is by far the fastest RAV4 of the fleet, with 0-60 times below six seconds, it is continuing the trend of combining performance with all electric technology. The RAV4 Prime has an EPA-estimated driving range of 42 miles in EV-only mode and 94 MPGe in hybrid mode.
The RAV4 Prime comes with bigger electric motors and hybrid battery pack, this pushes the output to a combined 302 horsepower. Unlike many other electric vehicles of the past, economy is not the only focus, the RAV4 Prime comes with all the bells and whistles you would find in a new RAV4 but provides higher acceleration and torque than the non-electric powertrains.
The RAV4 Prime is powered by a 2.5L four-cylinder engine combined with three electric motors paired to a continuously variable transmission sending power to all four-wheels (AWD). RAV4's come in two basic trim levels SE and XSE.
The RAV4 Prime SE trim includes electronic On-Demand All-wheel drive, 18-inch wheels, Full-Speed Dynamic Cruise Control with Lane Tracing Assist, LED projector-beam headlights with Automatic High Beams, heated bucket seats, electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, 8-inch multimedia display, SiriusXM satellite radio, 6-speaker, 5-USB ports, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and Wi-Fi Connect.
The RAV4 Prime XSE trim includes Softex-trimmed seats, 19-inch wheels, black mirror caps, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, ambient lighting, HomeLink garage door transmitter, 10.5-inch multimedia display and Qi Wireless Charging.
Standard Safety features included on the RAV4 Prime include Lane Departure Alert, Blind Spot Monitor, Toyota Safety Sense, Rear-Cross Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision System, Vehicle Proximity Notification, Road Sign Assist, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, hill start assist control, trailer sway control, smart stop technology and vehicle proximity notification system.
